Climate Action Plan Reduction Strategies
The City of Encinitas recently released their Climate Action Plan (CAP). The new plan provides a comprehensive roadmap to address the challenges of climate change in Encinitas. To help combat the effects of climate change, we all will reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from activities within the city while also adapting to and improving our resilience to a changing climate. Through this process, the City has identified the following GHG reduction targets:
2020 Reduction Target: 13 percent below 2012 baseline levels
2030 Reduction Target: 41 percent below 2012 baseline levels
The wedge diagram below is a common way to represent the expected result of implementing GHG emissions reduction strategies. The GHG wedge diagram provides an overview of the contribution that each strategy within the Climate Action Plan will have toward helping Encinitas achieve the GHG emissions reduction targets listed above. The wedge diagram is an interactive tool. Click on one of the strategies in the legend to the right, and see how the graph changes.
This table, pulled directly from the CAP, provides details on the emissions reductions anticipated from each of the identified reduction strategies.
